A committee of community leaders will distribute every dollar to people immediately affected by the anti-Semitic terror attack, in consultation with the three synagogues affected and the people affected.
Nevertheless, many new community needs have emerged since this attack.

About the Jewish Federation’s Community Campaign
The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s expert planning staff will assess all community needs in Pittsburgh, Israel and around the world and work with volunteer leaders to allocate money to the places and people who need it most. The Community Campaign is THE best way to ensure you multiply the impact of your contribution.

Jewish Community Security
The Jewish Federation’s Security Committee works with Jewish organizations to assess their needs and to pay for critical security improvements and training. The Community Campaign supports the Security Director as well as the many programs and training sessions that saved lives during the October 27 attack, so this fund is the best way to help.

Mental Health
The Jewish Federation’s planning staff will assess needs for counseling, training, mental health and even needs that have not emerged yet. The Jewish Federation’s Community Campaign addresses these emerging needs through existing programs such as Yad B’Yad, which provides counseling staff to the Jewish day schools. The Community Campaign is the best way to support emerging mental health needs, as a team of experts and volunteers assesses these needs every year in a formal planning cycle.

Memorialization/Education
The Jewish Federation’s Community Campaign supports many agencies with plans to remember the victims of the Oct. 27 terror attack and the people whose lives changed as a result. These agencies include the Rauh Jewish Archives at the Sen. John Heinz History Center, which has already collected many stories, pictures and memories from the attack and is making plans to educate our community.
