Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh Condemns White Supremacist Violence in Charlottesville, VA

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh condemns in the most powerful terms the violent acts of white supremacy and all forms of bigotry, intolerance and anti-Semitism, that occurred at the white nationalist "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Va., on Aug. 12. We mourn the loss of three innocent people: Heather Heyer, Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Berke M.M. Bates. May their memories be a blessing.

The Jewish people know all too well what can occur when the rancor of Nazis and white supremacists, as well as those who support them, is left unchecked. But we are far from the only community targeted by visceral hate. We stand fiercely against all forms of hate directed toward anyone based on their religion, race, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity.

We grieve with the Charlottesville community. The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh stands with our interfaith and diverse community partners to let Southwestern Pennsylvania know that hate is not tolerated here or elsewhere in our nation.
