Join us for a discussion about a campaign aimed at persuading employers to remove from their hiring applications the check box that asks if applicants have a criminal record. 

 

Tracey McCants LewisTRACEY McCANTS LEWIS, a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar, served as the chair of the Allegheny County Courts Administration Vision Team Committee and is the Director of theTribone Center for Clinical Legal Education at Duquesne University School of Law. She is an associate clinical professor and pro bono program coordinator and teaches in the school’s Civil Rights Clinic and Unemployment Compensation Clinic. Her scholarship is focused on critical race theory, feminist legal theory and the application of legal storytelling in clinical legal education.

A member of the Pennsylvania State Bar, McCants Lewis was appointed to the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board in 2013. She formerly practiced law as an associate with K&L Gates LLP and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Max Baer
of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. McCants Lewis earned her B.A. degree from Gannon University in political science and her J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law. 

She served as the chair of the Allegheny County Courts Administration Vision Team Committee in 2012. That same year, she received the NAACP Pittsburgh - Homer S. Brown Award for Legal Service.  In 2015, she was the recipient of the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh Racial Justice Award and most recently the 2017 Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh’s Ron H. Brown Community Leadership Award.
