means genesis in Amharic, the traditional language of Ethiopia. The Megemeria School of Jewelry & Art, founded by Isaac and Orna Levy of Yvel Jewelry in 2010, provides its students-Ethiopian immigrant to Israel-with a bright, new beginning in life.
The Megemeria School of Jewelry and Art offers professional training and advancement, as well as employment opportunities for Ethiopian new immigrants to Israel, thereby facilitating their social and professional integration into Israeli society. Each year, 21 Ethiopian students are selected to receive professional training in the art of jewelry design, setting and manufacture, enrichment classes in Hebrew and math, a monthly stipend and employment opportunities after completing the one-year course. The contemporary Megemeria collection, inspired by the immigrants’ personal and collective journey to Israel, features pendants, earrings, bracelets and rings made of 24K gold plated brass, priced from $40 to $400. Daniel Sahalo, is the marketing and sales manager of the Megemeria jewelry collection. Daniel will share with us his own story of making Aliyah from Ethiopia in 1984 and the important role the Megemeria plays in helping Ethiopian immigrants in Israel.

The Women's Philanthropy Spring Event is the annual WP thank-you event for women donors giving $1,000+ to the Annual Campaign, or $365 for young adults (ages 22-45). The event has traditionally been held in the spring and includes speaker and dessert reception. In 2014 and 2015, WP partnered with the JFilm Festival where the attendees enjoyed a film and speaker presentation; this garnered unprecedented success with sell-out attendance of 160+ women in 2015. In 2016, WP brought in Israeli Fashion House, Maskit to Pittsburgh. This was another great success with over 120+ women in attendance.
This year promises to be even bigger!
